Cape Fear Christian Academy’s varsity baseball and softball teams are scheduled to play in the Patriot Invitational at Faith Christian School in Rocky Mount on Thursday.
The Eagles (1-1) meet Wilson Christian (0-0) in baseball at 6:30 p.m.
CFCA plays its season opener in softball at 6 p.m. against the host Patriots (2-0). Bad weather postponed the start of the softball campaign.
The Eagles are looking to bounce back from a 7-3 home loss in baseball to Kerr-Vance on Tuesday in which nine errors led to seven unearned runs for the Spartans (1-3).
CFCA was shut out until the seventh when a double to left by Conner Parrish, a walk to Eli Burns and a 2-run triple by Parker McLamb cut the lead to 7-2.
Mclamb scored on a double steal.
Fisher Stancil (61 pitches, 45 strikes) and Taylor Smith (36 pitches, 25 strikes) pitched effectively for the Eagles.
The outcome ended a 7-game winning streak for CFCA at home, dating back to 2024.
Middle School Softball
CFCA won, 16-0, at Old Mainstream Academy in Pembroke on Tuesday as Finley Phillips pitched a 1-hitter with 11 strikeouts.
Offensively, Sailor Phillips had a walk, a single and a double with three stolen bases. Finley Phillips had a walk and two stolen bases.
Kinsley Godwin had a double, a single and a stolen base. Hailey Dupree had a double, a single and an RBI. Raylon Hood had a walk and stolen base. Finlee Ring had two walks and a stolen base.
Avery Denton had two singles, a walk and three RBIs. Tianna McKoy had a single, a double and two RBIs.
Middle School Baseball
The Eagles started the season with a 10-3 loss at Village on Monday.
CFCA battled to a 7-7 tie in eight innings on Tuesday at Old Mainstream.
