The second day of the Dixie Youth AAA (10-under) State Baseball Tournament in Dunn saw Lillington eliminated and play suspended due to severe weather during Dunn’s game Sunday.
Seven runs across the second and third innings made the difference as Lillington fell 7-0 in an elimination game against Clinton.
Colin McLeod had two hits and Caleb Lanier, Sam McFadden and Josh Bristow had one hit apiece for Lillington.
Jaden Hairr had two hits and two runs scored and Hampton Bass had one hit and one run scored to lead Clinton.
Clinton scored three runs in the second inning and four in the third.
Dunn trailed 9-3 against Dallas after two complete innings when play was stopped after lightning was spotted in the area. The heavy rainfall that followed left the fields at Tyler Park in unplayable condition and play was suspended until Monday.
Gavin Blackman had one hit and one run scored, William Bass had one hit and Asher Tyndall and Xaiden Brent scored one run apiece for Dunn.
The game is scheduled to resume at 11 a.m. on Monday.
