Cape Fear Christian Academy’s girls tennis team managed to beat darkness and Fayetteville Christian for the Sandhills Athletic Conference tournament championship at Triton on Wednesday.

After singles were completed with the teams tied 3-3, the Eagles swept the doubles to win the match, 6-3.

Singles winners for the Eagles were Ella John Dupree at No. 1, Karson Hamilton at No. 4 and Savannah Autry at No. 5.

Aubrey Jackson and Hamilton posted the first doubles win at No. 2. A victory by middle schoolers Autry and Lily Kate Dupree at No. 3 assured the Eagles of their third straight conference championship.

“I told our younger players they needed to step it up in doubles and they did, Lily Kate and Savannah,” said CFCA coach Page Jackson.

Ella John Dupree and Nina Sauer finished the match with an 8-4 win in the No. 1 singles.
