The Dunn AAA (10-and-under) baseball all-stars defeated Bladen County, 17-2, in four innings on Monday in the Diamond Youth Baseball Division 2 state tournament at Ocean Isle Beach Park.

The outcome moved the local team into an elimination game against host Shallotte on Field 1 on Tuesday at 5 p.m. Dunn will be the home team.

Dunn’s leaders at the plate on Monday included Acey Williams, who was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run. Mason Matthews was 2-for-3 with two runs. Colton Tart was 1-for-1 and was hit by a pitch twice as he scored three runs with two RBIs.

Brayden Pope went 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs. Weston Hudson had a hit, a walk, three runs and two RBIs. Jay Wilson had a hit, two RBIs and scored a run. Jaylin Jones was 2-for-2 with a double, three RBIs, one run and a walk.

Jennens Honeycutt, Liam Stroud and Hudson Whitaker combined to pitch a 1-hitter for Dunn with five walks, six strikeouts and one earned run.
