Harry Johnson heads out to pitch for the Dunn AAA All-Stars on Thursday.

After a 4-3 loss to host Hope Mills American on Wednesday night in the Dixie district baseball tournament, the Dunn AAA (10-and-under) All-Stars bounced back with a 13-1 win over the same Hope Mills team on Thursday night to win the double-elimination tournament.

Dunn advances to the state tournament in Ash at the Waccamaw Township Park and will play host Waccamaw on Saturday, June 7, at 4:30 p.m.

Coach Tommy Daughtry Jr. cited fan support for the final game of the district event.

“It sure is nice when you’re playing on your opponent’s home field but your team’s crowd is bigger and louder,” Daughtry said. “To our recreation directors, grandparents, parents, siblings and friends, the team thanks you for your unwavering support.”
