Dunn All-Stars bow out of Dixie state tournaments

Day five of the Dixie Youth Division 2 (smaller leagues) state baseball tournament saw host Dunn eliminated in both the AAA (9-10) and Majors (11-12) tournaments.

For the second straight night, Dunn was edged by a single run in the AAA tournament, as the host team fell 4-3 to Town Creek.

Chase Smith had a double and three runs. Crayton Stanley, Koledon Isenhour, Ayden Gary and Everette Pope had one hit each.

Town Creek scored three runs in the second inning and one in the fifth. Dunn scored one run apiece in the second, fourth and sixth innings.

Majors

West Duplin pitcher Hansley McGee was lights out as West Duplin defeated Dunn 7-3 in the majors tournament.

McGee pitched five-and-one-third innings before having to exit after reaching his pitch count limit, giving up one earned run on no hits and four walks, with 12 strikeouts.

McGee and Brantley Frederick each had home runs for West Duplin.

London Hinson had one hit and one run, Gavin Bates had one hit. Peyton Woodall and Connor Wright scored one run apiece for Dunn.

Dunn scored one run in the fifth inning and two in the sixth.

West Duplin scored three runs in the first inning and two apiece in the third and fourth innings.
