Dunn Majors All-Stars down Lillington

Dunn advanced to the championship round of the Dixie Youth District 11 Majors baseball tournament with a 13-2 win over host Lillington on Sunday.

Dunn had defeated Hoke County and Lillington won over Hope Mills on Saturday to advance to Sunday’s game.

Starter Camden Wilson was the winning pitcher for Dunn, giving up one earned run on three hits and three walks, with three strikeouts across two innings. Wyatt Herring pitched two innings of relief, yielding one earned run on three hits, with one strikeout.

Luke Peterson had two hits and Herring and Dale Martin each had one hit and thee runs scored to lead Dunn at the plate.

Braiden Arendt had one hit and two runs scored. Caleb Scruggins had one hit. Cody Gilbert and Gehrig Lane scored two runs apiece. Kasey Lee and Pate Reardon scored one run apiece.

Landis Eller and Hawkins each had one hit and one run scored, Hunter Barefoot, Kason Brown, Ayden Young and Noah Osborne had one hit apiece and Keoki Monte scored once for Lillington.

Lillington scored one run apiece in the first and fourth innings. Dunn scored two runs in the first inning, eight in the second and three in the third.

Lillington faces the winner of Hoke County vs Hope Mills in an elimination game at 6 p.m. Monday. The winner advances to meet Dunn in the championship at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Dunn needs just one win to claim the championship Tuesday. A Dunn loss in the first game would force an “if necessary game” scheduled for 8 p.m. Tuesday.
