Dunn Middle School’s basketball teams both remained unbeaten on the season with a sweep of visiting Harnett Central on Wednesday.
Dunn overcame some early cold shooting for a 44-22 win over Harnett Central in the girls game.
JaNiah Smith led all scorers with 23 points for the Greenwaves (3-0).
Addison Albright and Chyna Massey had six points apiece. Unique Cooke and Kamya Clark had three points apiece. Stephanie Davis had two points. Evie Eller had one point.
Leah Greer and Sondra Berry had five points apiece to pace the Raiders (0-4).
Victoria Langdon had four points. Emma Womack, Tanira Edwards and MarYa Prince had two points apiece. Jayla Pryor had one point.
After the teams played to a 5-5 tie in the first quarter, Dunn went on a 10-3 run through the second quarter and led the rest of the way, also outscoring Central 15-7 in the third quarter and 14-7 in the fourth.
Dunn used a strong second-half performance to pull away in a 48-16 win over Harnett Central in the boys game.
Qua’Shaun Williams had 11 points and Nick Roberson had 10 points to lead the Greenwaves (3-0).
Matthew Strickland had eight points. Chandler Miles and Ahmad Morris had four points apiece. Ro’mello Pegues, Camrien McNeil, Diontae Williams, Ezekial Dixon and Avery Ellington had two points apiece. Ke’Quan Kenner had one point.
The Raiders (0-4) were led by Josh Eason, with six points.
Camauri McDougald had three points. Trey Everette, Larionte Pipkin and Kevin Guerrero had two points apiece. Dylan Truelove had one point.
Dunn outscored Central in all four quarters: 11-2 in the first quarter, 8-7 in the second, 21-2 in the third and 8-5 in the fourth.
Both teams will resume play at home after the holiday break. Harnett Central meets Highland and Dunn takes on rival Coats-Erwin on Jan. 9.
