The Dunn Police Athletic League Wildcats won the United States Basketball Association state tournament played in Cary last weekend.
The Wildcats feature several players from Triton as well as team members from South Johnston and Cape Fear Christian Academy.
Assistant coach Andre Sankey coached the team while head coach Rodney Rowland was in Nebraska for graduation at Boys Town.
The Wildcats defeated the Sandhills Cyclones 66-58 in the championship game as Chrishaun Henry had 21 points, five rebounds, three blocks and one steal. Shiquan Cox had 18 points, nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Christion Green had eight points, four rebounds and three steals.
Eli Hudson had eight points and two rebounds. Maurice Williams supplied five points, two rebounds and two steals. Latrell McDougald had four points. Jahad Hart had two points and one steal. Terry Cooney had two rebounds, one steal and one block. Daniel Brady had two rebounds.
The Wildcats edged the Carolina Blazers 46-45 in the semifinals on Saturday as Henry had 15 points, five rebounds and one steal. Cox contributed 14 points, three rebounds, four steals and two blocks.
Green scored seven points and pulled down four rebounds. Maurice Williams had four points and two rebounds. Trevone Williams had four points and one rebound. McDougald had two points. Shahiem Strickland had two rebounds and one block. Hart and Cooney each claimed one rebound.
The semifinals win was the third game on Saturday for the Wildcats.
Dunn downed the Carolina Blazers 55-44 in the opening game Saturday as Cox had 13 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks. Henry finished with 12 points and seven rebounds. McDougald had six points, seven steals and one block. Maurice Williams had six points, one steal and one block. Trevone Williams had five points and one steal. Hart had five points, two rebounds and one steal. Cooney totaled four points and two rebounds. Green had three points, nine rebounds, four steals and one block. Strickland added one point and two blocks.
Dunn downed the Swarm City Hornets 59-48 in Saturday’s second game as Cox had 23 points and three rebounds. Green had 10 points and seven rebounds. Maurice Williams had nine points, two rebounds and two steals. Henry scored six points and pulled down four rebounds.
Trevone Williams had six points and two rebounds. Hudson had three points. McDougald had two points, two rebounds and one steal. Strickland claimed three rebounds. Hart had one rebound and two steals.
