Ryan Rosales scored two goals in the second half for Durham School of the Arts in a 3-1 varsity boys soccer win at Triton on Monday night in the first round of the NCHSAA 3-A playoffs.
A sophomore connection with Elias Lopez assisting Tzuriel Morales-Olvera for a header gave the Hawks (15-8-2) a 1-0 lead at 16:28.
The Bulldogs (14-6) got the equalizer from Zaeki Banawan in the 33rd minute.
“It didn’t quite turn out like we wanted it to,” said Triton coach Brian Foster. “They converted on a couple of mistakes and we had some near misses.
“All in all, a very good season replacing some very key players. We found a little bit of offense from some guys we weren’t necessarily expecting. We’re graduating four seniors, so that’s what we have to replace.”
