E.E. Smith took a 67-63 win against No. 2 seed Overhills on Thursday night in the semifinals of the Patriot Athletic 4-A/3-A Conference varsity boys basketball tournament at Terry Sanford.
The Jaguars were down three points with 9.2 seconds left and called time.
“We set up a play and got two great looks,” said Overhills coach Tony Lewis.
Zavian McLean had 24 points for the Jaguars (20-6). Latrell Lloyd scored 12 points and Cinque Lemon added 11.
“E.E. Smith is playing well right now,” Lewis said. “The last three weeks have been a grind with all the make-up games. Our kids seem a little tired. This time of year, your legs kind of leave you.”
Lewis planned to give his team a day off on Friday.
