Host Kerr-Vance, the No. 6 seed in the North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association 1-A girls basketball playoffs, took a 70-47 first-round win over Cape Fear Christian Academy on Tuesday evening.

The Lady Eagles finished the season 8-13 with no seniors on the roster.

Kristen Bass and Leah Brannon scored 12 points each for CFCA. Anslee McLamb had 11 points, Meredith Taylor tallied eight and Aubree Bass added four.

Kerr-Vance (15-7) hosts Northeast Academy (11-12) in the second round on Thursday.
