Cape Fear Christian Academy’s middle school basketball teams swept Southeastern Conference games with visiting Freedom Christian on Monday afternoon with a squeaker and a blowout.
The CFCA girls took a 25-23 win as Aubrey Horne made a basket at the buzzer off an inbounds play. The CFCA boys used a zone press effectively in a 65-28 victory.
The Eagle teams host Sandhills Classical Christian of Southern Pines on Thursday.
Horne had 11 points for the CFCA girls (2-1). Bailey Avery scored six. Ella Wilborn and Peyton Dunn had three points each. Finley Phillips tallied two.
Ethan Beasley had 19 points and eight assists for the Eagle boys (3-0). Eli Shwaikeh scored 14 with three assists.
Brandon Brooks had 10 points and seven rebounds. Chris Crume added seven points and four rebounds. Palmer Ennis tallied six points.
Cade Godwin netted four points. Fisher Stancil scored three with three assists. Cole Andrews had two points. London Hinson had five rebounds.
