Eagles advance to JV boys championship with 63-30 win over Lee Christian

Cape Fear Christian Academy’s junior varsity boys basketball team will play for the Mid-Carolina Conference tournament championship after downing visiting Lee Christian, 63-30, on Thursday.

The Eagles host Crossroads for the title on Friday at 3:30 p.m.

Eli Shwaikeh had 22 points for CFCA on Thursday. Eli Burns scored 11. Tyson Stephens had nine points.

Parker McLamb had eight points. Fisher Stancil got four points. Adding three points each were Taylor Smith, Donald O’Meara and Steven Hicks.

Varsity Boys

CFCA was dealt a 72-66 loss at Crossroads in the MCC semifinals despite 24 points from Kayden Dunkins on nine for 14 field goal shooting.

Caden Scarborough had 16 points and five assists for the Eagles (15-10). Justin Chestnut had 10 points with five rebounds and three blocked shots.

Elijah Ellia and Lathan Wilborn each scored six points. Cade Godwin added three points with four assists.

Wilborn had five rebounds and blocked three shots. Ellis had four rebounds and three steals.

The Eagles made eight of 11 free throws compared to 17 of 26 for the hosts.

Varsity Girls

The Lady Eagles absorbed a 63-33 MCC semifinal loss at Lee Christian on Thursday night.

Glenna McLamb led CFCA with 11 points. Lily Kate Dupree had eight points. Savannah Autry had six points.

Mary Andemichael scored five. Hailey Wangelin tallied two and Ella Wilborn added one point.
