Cape Fear Christian Academy’s varsity boys basketball team topped West Johnston, 52-47, in the first round of the John Jacobs Christmas Classic on Thursday.
The Eagles (12-3) play host Cleveland (8-1 in the semifinals on Friday at 8:30 p.m.
“It seemed like every time we got a decent lead, we were hit by a barrage of threes,” said CFCA coach Dwain Ellis. “We stayed poised at key momenmts and had our best game as far as not turning the ball over.”
Kayden Dunkins had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles. Lathan Wilborn had 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Caden Scarborough added nine points.
