Cape Fear Christian Academy advanced to the semifinals of the NCISAA 1-A boys soccer tournament with a 2-1 victory at Lee Christian on Saturday.

Caden Scarborough scored both goals for CFCA (6-7) in the second half.

Zeke Brock had an assist and Jakson Cullen had 10 saves as the Eagles advanced to a semfinal match at Crosswoads Christian on Tuesday.

The Falcons had scored five goals in each of two previous wins, but CFCA adjusted its defensive approach for the third match.

“Lathan Wilborn, Wyatt Medlin, Conner Parrish, Cole Godwin, Patrick Raynor and Chris Crume were all locked in defensively,” said Eagles coach Bill Parrish. “Lathan was given the task of marking one of the Falcons’ best offensive players and he did an awesome job.

“Wyatt also shared in marking this player and between them marking him and our defensive back line, the Falcon player was held scoreless for the first time against us this season.”

The hosts scored their lone goal with about 10 minutes remaining to trim the lead to 2-1.
