Spencer George, a junior at Cape Fear Christian Academy, was third in the 100-yard freestyle in the North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association Division III swim meet at the Greensboro Aquatic Center on Monday.

George earned a bronze medal in the event with a time of 50.12 seconds. He was fourth in the 100-yard backstroke in 58.15 seconds.

His finishes gave CFCA 31 points and a 19th-place finish among 25 scoring boys teams in the division that combines NCISAA 2-A and 1-A teams.

Ruby George, an eighth-grader and Spencer’s sister, was sixth in the girls 100 freestyle in 1:02.21 and sixth in the 100 backstroke in 1:09.17.

Her performances earned CFCA a tie for 19th in the girls standings among 27 scoring teams. She was one of three middle schoolers to earn points in the meet.

Eagles coach Shannon George is the mother of the CFCA swimmers and a faculty member at the school.

CFCA resumed its swimming program this year.
