The Cape Fear Christian Academy middle school softball team defeated visiting Village Christian, 15-0, in four innings on Wednesday to win the Southeastern Conference tournament championship.
Kristina Kennedy pitched a no-hitter in her last middle school game, allowing just one walk.
The Eagles finished 13-0 and outscored opponents, 229-10.
Dominant pitching, solid defense and aggressive base running were key factors in CFCA’s success.
Jessica Talley was hit in the helmet with the bases loaded to force home the game-ending run on the mercy rule Wednesday.
Eighth-graders Kailynn Cumbie, Karli Johnson, Kennedy and Talley were recognized prior to the game.
