Eagles complete Florida trip with 54-36 victory

Cape Fear Christian Academy’s varsity boys basketball team completed play in the Holiday Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., on Saturday with a 54-36 win over Stone Memorial of Crossville, Tenn.

The Eagles went 2-1 in the event at The Benjamin School and moved to 14-6 for the season.

“We held their Division One recruit (Justin Headrick) to four points,” said CFCA coach J.D. Johnson. “It was a tough team defensive effort. We played together and within ourselves on offense.”

Lucas Capalbo had 14 points in the win and Ramiro Arrillaga scored 13. Riley Adams had seven of his 10 points in the fourth quarter. Dillon Butler had nine points. E.J. Bethea scored five points. Parker Watson finished with three points and Marcus Owens added two.

The Eagles made 15 of 17 free throws in the fourth quarter.

CFCA led 24-16 at the half.

The Eagles have added a home game against Reynolds-Miller Academy on Thursday at 7 p.m.
