Anslee McLamb (middle) forces out a Freedom runner at second

Cape Fear Christian Academy’s varsity softball team posted its second five-inning Sandhills Athletic Conference win in as many days with an 11-1 victory at Freedom Christian on Tuesday.

The Eagles continue a busy week as they host Fayetteville Christian today at 4 p.m. and play Freedom at home on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in a pair of make-up games from March. The demands of the schedule were reduced as a tournament at Wayne Christian on Friday and Saturday did not materialize.

CFCA faced a 1-0 deficit on a home run by Victoria Bryant in the first inning. The Eagles took the lead in a 3-run, inside-the-park home run by Mariah Bell that brought in Cailee Ray and Rhyleigh Horne.

CFCA extended the lead to 6-1 as Ray, Horne and Aarin Marlow scored in the fourth.

A five-run fifth inning included runs from Anslee McLamb, Marlow, Ray, Bell and Kim Bordeaux.

Ray finished 4-for-4, Bell was 3-for-4, Bekah Ennis went 1-for-1 with two walks and Marlow was 1-for-2.

Claire Parker started and pitched three innings with one hit, one walk and six strikeouts.

Horne finished in the circle, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out three.

CFCA coach Sterling Holmes talks to the team at Freedom.

Trinity Olive (3) stands on third base in Tuesday’s 11-1 win.

Rhyleigh Horne finished in the circle for the Eagles.
