Cape Fear Christian Academy was topped, 2-1, Thursday at Crossroads Christian in the quarterfinals of the NCISAA 1-A baseball tournament.
Eli Burns pitched a complete game for the Eagles (10-9). The freshman right-hander scattered six hits with one earned run, two walks and two strikeouts.
Conner Parrish had a sacrifice fly in the first to bring in Burns for a 1-0 CFCA lead.
Seventh-grader Carter Glass, Burns and Taylor Smith had hits for the Eagles. Glass, Burns, Smith and Cooper Davis had stolen bases.
“Proud of the effort and energy our guys played with,” said CFCA coach Bill Parrish. “We had a game plan and made some adjustments after being run-ruled, 17-7, by the Colts last Friday.”
CFCA was 12-0 in Mid-Carolina Conference play against Crossroads prior to 2025 but went 0-4 against their league rivals this season.
The Eagles made three errors Thursday but had two double plays.
“We played some tough competition and also battled injuries,” Coach Parrish said. “We look forward to next season.”
CFCA has no seniors on its current roster.
