“The defending 3-A private school state champion and the defending 4-A public school champion,” said first-year CFCA coach J.D. Johnson. “We should find out about ourselves very quickly.”
Johnson was 27-5 last year at Statesville Christian.
Among the additions to the Eagles are guard Lucas Capalbo and guard-forward Ramiro Arrillaga, who played on their age group national team in Uruguay, as well as E.J. Bethea, who averaged 13.4 points at Fayetteville Academy last season.
Senior guards Riley Adams and Bethea are serving as captains.
The Eagles are scheduled to open the season Tuesday night at home against Lighthouse. The junior varsity boys game will start at 4 p.m. with the varsity girls at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity boys at 7 p.m.
