Eagles honor 8th-graders as boys improve to 10-1

Cape Fear Christian Academy recognized its eighth-grade basketball players at Mid-Carolina Conference home games with Crossroads on Thursday.

The visitors took a 24-17 win in the girls game despite 10 points by Carolina Wynns.

Hayden Deese, Bijou Hester and Finlee Ring scored two points each. Knorah Whitmore added one point.

Eight-graders Deese and Whitmore were honored before the game.

Eli Shwaikeh scored 29 points as the CFCA boys improved to 10-1 and remained unbeaten in league play with a 56-25 victory.

Reid Jones had 10 points. Luke Meyer scored six. Braxton Register had four points. Sam Hudson had three points. Carter Glass and Henry Smith had two points each.

The CFCA middle school teams host Old Mainstream on Thursday.
