Cape Fear Christian Academy’s gym and its volleyball teams had a different look on Thursday for Pink-Out matchups with visiting Village Christian.

The Eagles junior varsity remained unbeaten in the Sandhills Athletic Conference with a 2-0 triumph (25-9, 25-20) before rallying for a five-set win in the varsity contest (25-22, 20-25, 23-25, 25-22, 15-12).

“It was a great team win,” said CFCA coach Calvin Gaines after the Eagles got their third league victory on the varsity level.

Veronica Johnson was instrumental in organizing the event for cancer awareness. Her daughter, Reyna Johnson, sang and played the keyboard in a program after play was completed.

Middle School Volleyball

The CFCA middle school volleyball team recorded a doubleheader sweep at Fayetteville Academy on Thursday, winning matches by scores of 2-0 and 2-1. The Eagles improved to 18-1 overall and 17-1 in the Southeastern Conference.
