Cape Fear Christian Academy’s varsity boys basketball team led from start to finish in an 87-33 nonconference win over visiting Reynolds-Miller Academy on Thursday night.
The Eagles (15-6) were supposed to play at Lighthouse Christian but that game was canceled due to a gym availability issue. Reynolds-Miller was a late replacement.
CFCA led from the outset, making technical free throws before tipoff because the visitors had several illegal numbers.
The Eagles were on top 32-8 at the end of the first quarter. The clock ran continuously when the lead grew to 40 points in the second half.
E.J. Bethea led CFCA with 17 points. Marcus Owens scored 14. Dillon Butler had 13 points. Lucas Capalbo scored 10 with his parents on hand from Uruguay. Ramiro Arrillaga tallied eight points.
Scoring six points each were Riley Adams and Spencer George. Greg Moneymaker had five points. Parker Watson and Owen Gregory scored three points each. Eli O’Brien added two points.
The Eagles host Village Christian in Sandhills Athletic Conference matchups this evening (Friday, Jan. 4). The junior varsity boys (4 p.m.), varsity girls (5:30 p.m.) and varsity boys (7 p.m.) will be in action.
