Eagles open varsity softball season with 17-0 victory

Cape Fear Christian Academy opened its varsity softball season with a 17-0 win in three innings over host Faith Christian of Rocky Mount in the Patriot Invitational on Thursday night.

CFCA stats included 17 hits. Larah Tripp had three hits with a double, a triple and four RBIs. Kristina Kennedy had three hits with two doubles and three RBIs. Megan Harrold and Glenna McLamb each had two doubles and drove in a pair of runs.

Sailor Phillips had three hits with a double and an RBI. Hailey Dupree had two hits with a double and three RBIs. Finley Phillips had an RBI.

McLamb allowed two hits while striking out five in three innings.

Tommy McLamb is serving as head coach for CFCA this season with Greg Kennedy assisting.

The Eagles host Lawrence on Monday at 4 p.m.
