Eagles return to action with 13-0 no-hit win over Falcon

Cape Fear Christian Academy’s varsity baseball team returned from a layoff dating back to April 15 for Easter break with a 13-0 win in five innings over visiting Falcon Christian (3-4) on Monday.

The Eagles (9-7) host Lee Christian (4-8) in the first round of the Mid-Carolina Conference tournament on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Eli Burns (two innings), Taylor Smith (two innings) and Mason Gregory (one inning) combined for a no-hitter. The trio totaled 12 strikeouts.

CFCA took control with a 5-run first inning and exceeded the span for the mercy rule with seven runs in the fourth.

The Eagles had eight hits, drew eight walks and had two batters hit by pitches. The visitors committed six errors while the hosts were charged with one.

Elijah Ellis had two hits and two RBIs. Landon McLamb had two hits and one RBI.

Gregory had a hit and three RBIs. Fisher Stancil had a hit, two runs, two walks and two RBIs.

Taylor Smith had a hit and scored three runs. Burns had a hit, two runs and an RBI. Conner Parrish walked twice and scored two runs. Cooper Davis had an RBI.
