The varsity boys soccer season concluded Monday for Cape Fear Christian Academy with a 2-1 loss at Northwood Temple of Fayetteville in the first round of the Sandhills Athletic Conference tournament.

Dolan Adams scored for CFCA after taking possession from the hosts in the second half.

CFCA had two seniors in 2019, after not fielding a team in 2018 due to insufficient numbers.

CFCA coach Michael Breslin was pleased with the improvement during the course of a 2-11 campaign.

CFCA played Northwwood Temple progressively closer, losing 5-0 at home in the first meeting on Sept. 12 and 2-0 at NTA on Oct. 1.

“We are a different team than the start of the season,” Breslin said. “Playing much better soccer. Rather than just kicking the ball and hoping someone will chase it down, we’ve started building the attack.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what we will do next season. We will start from a much better place than we did this year.”
