Eagles split games in Senior Classic

Cape Fear Christian Academy’s varsity basketball teams each went 1-1 in the Senior Classic as the boys were topped, 64-55, in the championship by Fayetteville Christian on Thursday night and the girls turned back Lee Christian, 58-16, in the girls consolation.

South Wake won the girls championship, 56-49, over Fayetteville Christian and the Sabres downed Lee Christian, 80-43, in the boys consolation game.

Zeke Brock had 32 points, four steals and three assists for CFCA in the final. Brandon Surles added nine points and five assists. Lathan Wilborn hit eight points for the Eagles. Trevor McLamb had three points, Caden Scarborough added two points and Justin Cbestnut scored one.

Ella John Durpree had 20 points for the CFCA girls on Thursday. Perri Caroline Ennis scored 10. The Lady Eagles got eight points from Glenna McLamb and six from Courtney Butts. Adding four points each were Savannah Autry, Meredith Taylor and Niah Torres. Madeline Brocious tallied two.

The CFCA varsities open Mid-Carolina 1-a Conference play at Cresset Christian of Durham on Thursday night.

The Eagle middle school teams open their seasons at home on Monday afternoon against O’Neal.
