Eagles split in baseball at Crossroads, face Colts again in MCC on Tuesday

Cape Fear Christian Academy split its Mid-Carolina Conference baseball games at Crossroads Christian in Henderson on Monday, taking a 3-1 middle school win before falling, 7-3, in the varsity contest.

Varsity Baseball

The Colts broke a tie at 3 with a run in the third and added three runs in the sixth as the Eagles slipped to 8-6 overall and 2-1 in the MCC.

“We had too many mistakes defensively and left too many on base,” said CFCA coach Bill Parrish. “Only two of their runs were earned.”

Conner Parrish had two hits and two RBIs for the Eagles. Getting one hit each were Eli Burns, Parker McLamb, Cooper Davis and Landon McLamb.

Tyson Stephens drew three walks and had a sacrifice bunt.

Fisher Stancil allowed three hits with nine strikeouts over five and one-third innings.

The Eagles host Crossroads (7-3, 3-0 MCC) on Tuesday at 5:15 p.m.

Middle School

Winning pitcher Carter Glass yielded one run and two hits.

CFCA drew nine walks in improving to 3-0 in the MCC.

Reid Jones was 1-for-2 at the plate.

The Eagles host Crossroads on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
