Cape Fear Christian Academy posted a varsity basketball sweep of visiting Father Capodanno of Vass on Tuesday with a 52-15 girls win and an 80-41 victory in the boys contest.
The Eagle boys (7-12) were without junior guard Zeke Brock, who is averaging 35.0 points per game, due to sickness and had a narrow 19-16 lead at the end of the first quarter.
CFCA took control by outscoring the Grunts (1-6) by a 26-4 margin in the third quarter. Kayden Dunkins led the Eagles with b16 points and seven rebounds. Caden Scarborough had 14 points. Seung Yi Surmons scored 11 points.
Brandon Surles had 10 points, five assists and three steals. Lathan Wilborn tallied eight points and Wyatt Medlin netted seven.
Justin Chestnut scored five points, Trevor McLamb scored four, Elijah Ellis had three and Cole Godwin added two. Godwin had seven rebounds.
Girls
Perri Carolina Ennis had 15 points and six rebounds for the CFCA girls (). Savannah Autry finished with 13 points and six rebounds. Ella John Dupree had 11 points and six steals.
Glenna McLamb scored five points. Meredith Taylor had four points. Madeline Brocious had two points, seven rebounds and four assists. Niah Torres had two points. Laney Trainer had five rebounds and three assists.
