Cape Fear Christian Academy swept its nonconference basketball games with visiting Ascend Leadership Academy on Thursday as the Eagles had Senior Night.
CFCA recognized Jackson Bolton, Gavin Harris and Trevor McLamb prior to a 74-25 varsity boys victory that put the Eagles at 12-12 with their sixth straight win. Junior guard Zeke Brock scored 41 points.
The Lady Eagles prevailed, 62-15, with 20 points from Ella John Dupree to improve to 7-11. Meredith Taylor and scorekeeper Anna Jackson were honored before tipoff. Senior cheerleaders Meredith Taylor, Aubrey Jackson and Averi Williams were presented at halftime.
The CFCA junior varsity boys started the sweep as they improved to 13-2 with a 73-13 win.
The CFCA middle school teams took a pair of wins at Fayetteville Academy, 35-5, in the girls game and 52-13 in the boys contest.
Varsity Boys
The second half was played with a running clock as CFCA led 59-16 at the half.
Scoring five points each were Caden Scarborough, Bolton, Seung Yi Surmons and Brandon Surles. Harris and McLamb had four points each.
Wyatt Medlin had two points and eighth-grader Lathan Wilborn had two points on his first scholastic dunk. Justin Chestnut added one point.
Brock made 17 of 24 field goal attempts, including three of nine from beyond the arc. He was four for five on free throws. Brock had five assists and seven steals.
McLamb led the rebounding with eight, Cole Godwin grabbed seven and Harris pulled down five.
Varsity Girls
Dupree made four of nine on 3-point attempts and had 10 steals.
Perri Caroline Ennis and Glenna McLamb scored 11 points each. Taylor had 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Ennis had nine rebounds and four assists.
Savannah Autry had four points with five rebounds. Kristina Kennedy scored three points. Madeline Brocious had two points. Niah Torres had one point and three steals. Laney Trainer contributed three rebounds and four steals. Courtney Butts claimed three rebounds and had two steals.
JV Boys
Conner Parrish led the way for CFCA with 12 points, 12 rebounds, six assists and two steals.
Wilborn had 10 poiunts, six rebounds and three steals.
Jayden Wright finished with eight points, three rebounds, two steals and two assists. Caden Scarborough added eight points and two assists. Ethan Beasley scored seven points with three steals and three assists. Braxton Watt scored six points with four rebounds, two steals and one assist.
Surmons had five points. Kayden Dunkins, Eli Burns and Elijah Ellis scored four points each. Connor Shirley had three points. Chestnut had two points with four steals.
Middle School Boys
Brandon Brooks had 22 points as the Eagles moved to 13-1. The scoring leaders included Fisher Stancil (9) and Palmer Ennis (8).
Chris Crume scored four. Tallying three apiece were Eli Shwaikeh and Greyson Avent. London Hinson and Parker McLamb added two points each.
Middle School Girls
Scoring totals as CFCA moved to 12-1 were Christianna Wynns (11), Lily Kate Dupree (9), Aubrey Horne (7), Bailey Avery (7) and Finley Phillips (1).
Upcoming Games
CFCA’s middle school teams visit Berean Baptist on Monday.
All five Eagles teams are at home to take on Crossroads on Tuesday.
