Cape Fear Christian Academy swept a middle school/varsity nonconference baseball doubleheader with visiting Halifax on Friday.
The Eagles overcame an early 3-0 deficit to improve to 5-3 with an 11-3 win in the varsity contest as Fisher Stancil pitched a complete game with 13 strikeouts.
CFCA overwhelmed the Vikings, 17-2, in the middle school matchup.
Varsity
Stancil allowed six hits with one walk. All three Halifax runs were earned. He helped his own cause with two hits, including a double, and two RBIs.
His offensive support included two hits and two RBIs from Eli Burns. Tyson Stephens was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI.
Landon McLamb had two hits with a double and an RBI. Mason Gregory, Conner Parrish and Cooper Davis each had a hit and an RBI. Taylor Smith had a hit and scored a run.
Parrish drew two of seven walks for the Eagles.
Middle School
CFCA took control with 14 runs in the second inning as Reid Jones had a 3-run double. Carter Glass, Braxton Young and Landon Dupree had run-scoring singles.
The Eagles (2-1-!) drew 12 walks and stole 12 bases.
Glass started on the mound for the hosts. He allowed one hit and no runs in two innings with three walks and six strikeouts.
Upcoming
The CFCA middle school and varsity baseball teams start Mid-Carolina Conference play at Lee Christian on Monday with the younger team beginning play at 3:30 p.m.
