Eagles take road wins in soccer at Bradford, Christ the Cornerstone

Cape Fear Christian Academy’s boys soccer teams recorded road wins on Friday as the CFCA varsity took a 4-1 Mid-Carolina Conference victory at Bradford in Mebane and the Eagle middle school team prevailed, 4-3, in a nonconference contest at Christ the Cornerstone in Laurinburg.

Gunner Dorman and Caden Scarborough each scored a pair of goals as the CFCA varsity improved to 5-2-1 overall and 3-1 in league play.

Scarborough finished with 10 shots on goal and one assist. Dorman had five shots on goal and Cade Godwin had three. Getting one shot on goal each were Thomas Honeycutt, Fisher Stancil and Tyson Stephens.

Defensive leaders included Justin Chestnut with four saves in goal, Conner Parrish at striker and Lathan Wilborn, who marked the Archers’ top offensive player. Bradford’s lone goal came on a penalty kick in the first half.

CFCA has an MCC match against Cresset at home on Tuesday at 4 p.m., weather permitting.

Middle School

Eli Shwaikeh had two goals on Friday for the Eagles. Liam Gaines and Braxton Young scored one each.

CFCA plays at Crossroads on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
