Cape Fear Christian Academy’s varsity softball team topped host Freedom Christian, 4-3, in eight innings Friday for the Sandhills Athletic Conference tournament championship.

The teams tied for the regular-season championship, but the Patriots won a coin flip for top seeding in the tournament.

CFCA (15-4) scored twice in the top of the first, but Freedom got three runs in the fourth for a 3-2 lead. The Eagles tied the score at 3 in the sixth.

Mount Olive signee Mariah Bell had two hits and scored twice for CFCA with three stolen bases. Her second score, the winning run, came on a high hopper to second by Rhyleigh Horne.

Methodist signee Kim Bordeaux pitched a complete game. She allowed six hits, two earned runs and walked four while striking out 13.

Bordeaux was 1-for-3 at the plate with a run and two RBIs. Horne had a run and an RBI. Cailee Ray, Trinity Olive and Megan Harrold also had hits for CFCA.

Bell, Ray, Bordeaux, Claire Parker, Horne and Harrold made all-conference from CFCA.
