Cape Fear Christian Academy’s varsity softball team posted two wins in the NCISAA 1-A Tournament at CFCA on Friday as Rhyleigh Horne and Claire Parker pitched complete games.
The Eagles defeated Lawrence Academy, 7-2, with Horne in the circle for the Final Four opener.
Parker shut out Ridgecroft in the winner’s bracket matchup as CFCA advanced by an 11-0 margin in five innings.
Lawrence was put out of the double-elimination event with a 7-3 loss to Pungo, which bounced back from a 2-1 setback from Ridgecroft. Lawrence was the No. 1 seed.
Pungo was scheduled to take on Ridgecroft on Saturday at 10 a.m. in an elimination game.
The Pungo-Ridgecroft winner would have to top CFCA twice, beginning with a noon matchup, to prevent the Eagles from claiming the state title.

Rhyleigh Horne began the Final Four with a win in the circle.
