Cape Fear Christian Academy took wins in three of its four basketball games on Thursday.
The middle school girls improved to 4-3 going into a game Monday at O’Neal in Southern Pines with a 53-12 home win over Fayetteville Academy as Kristina Kennedy scored 26 points.
Savannah Autry and Lily Kate Dupree each scored 10 points in the Southeastern Conference matchup. Ella Wilborn added five points and Peyton Dunn tallied two.
Upper School teams at Fayetteville Christian
The CFCA junior varsity boys and varsity boys posted Sandhills Athletic Conference wins at Fayetteville Christian School.
The varsity girls put up a more competitive showing with a 48-26 loss after falling, 78-27, at home to the Lady Warriors on January 28.
“We had a bunch of rebounds, but our shots just didn’t fall,” said CFCA assistant girls coach Beth Brocious.
Perri Caroline Ennis had eight points and 14 rebounds for the Lady Eagles (10-7, 4-3 SAC). Ella John Dupree had seven points and three assists. Cailee Ray had five points, nine rebounds and three assists.
Laney Trainer scored four and Madeline Brocious tallied two.
The CFCA varsity boys improved to 12-9 overall and 4-4 in the league as DeShawn Woods scored 25 points in a 66-47 win.
Woods had nine rebounds, three assists and three steals. He hit five of seven from beyond the arc and made all eight of his tries from the line.
David Okropiridze and Jakson Cullen stepped up with seven assists apiece in the absence of playmaker Zeke Brock.
Reid Miller scored 12 points. Cullen netted nine. Okropiridze and Trevor McLamb contributed eight points each. Barrett Raynor and Grant Pasley-Allen added two points apiece.
CFCA’s JV boys won, 30-27.
CFCA’s high school teams host Trinity Christian tonight (Friday, February 4).
