Deshawn Woods scored 44 points for Cape Fear Christian Academy in an 82-67 nonconference varsity boys basketball win at Wake Christian on Tuesday night.

The Eagles (2-1) had to play without point guard Zeke Brock due to an ankle injury in the first quarter. Brandon Surles, Jakson Cullen, David Okropiridze, Reid Miller and Trevor McLamb were amoing those stepping up.

“It took about three possessions to figure it out,” said CFCA coach Dwain Ellis.

Cullen had 15 points.

CFCA won the junior varsity boys game, 47-33, as Surles scored 20 points and Lathan Wilborn added 10.

The Eagles host Lee Christian for JV and varsity boys games on Thursday beginning at 4:30 p.m.

The CFCA varsity girls play at home on Friday at 5:30 p.m. against Southside Christian.
