Bailey Dorman had two goals in the first half Tuesday as Cape Fear Christian Academy won its first game of the varsity girls soccer season, 2-0, over visiting Oakwood.
Ella John Dupree contributed an assist and goalie Grace Viox anchored the defense with 16 saves.
“We were eager for our first game,” said first-year Eagles coach Beth Brocious. “Our goal is to grow each game and to become stronger working together as a team.
“Our offense utilized Bailey’s speed. … Goalkeeping was solid and defense was strong. Grace made great saves and was a key to our victory.
“Our offense and defense have things to grow on, but for our first game — very proud of how they played.”
The Eagles are scheduled to host Ridgecroft on Tuesday at 4 p.m,
