Eagles wind up week with wins in volleyball, tennis

Cape Fear Christian Academy’s varsity volleyball team completed the week on a high note with a 3-1 Mid-Carolina Conference victory over visiting Cresset Christian of Durham. Set scores were 25-21, 25-22, 18-25 and 25-22.

CFCA improved to 10-5 overall and 4-2 in league play.

Bailey Dorman had eight kills, six service aces and 48 digs for the Eagles.

Ella John Dupree had eight kills for CFCA. Karlee Edwards and three blocks and Larah Tripp had two.

Madeline Brocious finished with 25 digs and Jada Johnson had 15. Lily Gotlibowski had 28 assists.

The CFCA junior varsity and varsity volleyball teams play Riverside Christian at Highland Presbyterian in Fayetteville on Tuesday beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Middle School Volleyball

The Eagles won Tuesday’s Pink-Out matchup with visiting Lee Christian, 2-0 (25-18, 25-20) as Avery Lassiter had five kills.

Finley Phillips had eight aces and Mady Tyndall served six.

CFCA turned back Cresset, 2-0 (26-24, 25-11) on Friday as Bristol Stephens, Tyndall, Phillips and Lassiter each had two kills.

Phillips had six aces, Stephens had four, Tyndall served three and Callie Wilson had two. Lassiter added two blocks.

CFCA (12-1) hosts St. John Paul II on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The Eagles will have eighth-grade recognition.

Girls Tennis

The Eagles took an 8-1 win over Village Christian on Thursday at Mazerick Park in Fayetteville.

CFCA improved to 5-1 going into a match to be hosted by Fayetteville Christian on Monday at 4 p.m. at Tokay Park.

Varsity Boys Soccer

The Eagles were scheduled to host Cresset on Friday but that match was postponed due to weather.

CFCA returns to action Monday with a make-up match at Lee Christian at 5:30 p.m.

Lee topped the Eagles, 5-2, on Tuesday as two of Caden Scarborough’s 10 shots were goals.

CFCA trailed 4-0 at the half. The Eagles are 3-4 overall and 1-3 in the MCC.

Middle School Boys Soccer

CFCA improved to 3-2 with a 4-0 win over Lee Christian on Tuesday as Gunner Dorman and Eli Shwaikeh each scored two goals.

The Eagles travel to Lee Christian for a match on Monday at 4 p.m.

Girls Golf

CFCA will host a match on Monday at 3 p.m. at Keith Hills with Cary Christian and Wake Christian.

Cross Country

The Eagles are scheduled to compete in a meet at Bradford Academy in Mebane on Thursday at 4 p.m.
