Eighth-grader earns all-conference in cross country for Eagles

Eighth-grader Ruby George of Cape Fear Christian Academy finished ninth in the Sandhills Athletic Conference cross country meet at Fayetteville Christian School on Thursday to earn all-conference honors.

George ran a time of 23 minutes, 38 seconds over the five-kilometer course, moving up from 14th place over the last two miles.

Freshman Trinity Olive of CFCA was 14th in 27:12. Bella Jones of the Eagles ran a time of 32:24 to finish 25th and Sonja Raolji was 26th in 33:55.

Trey Tripp led the CFCA boys with a 16th place finish in 21:36. Jaden Crumley was 19th in 22:53 and Chase Garcia was 27th in 27:29.

“I thought Ruby had a chance at all-conference and she ran well,” said CFCA coach Karina Maya. “All of the runners have shown improvement.”
