A huge game by Perri Caroline Ennis led the Cape Fear Christian Academy varsity girls basketball team to a 57-25 nonconference victory over visiting New Life on Friday night.
Ennis scored the first six points for the CFCA girls, who never trailed. She finished with 28 points and 14 rebounds.
“We were trying to feed PC and she responded with a career game,” said Lady Eagles coach Dwain Ellis. “We have a drill in practice called ‘Scramble,’ where it’s every player for themself and I think that paid off tonight.”
Ella John Dupree was 6-for-6 at the free throw line and had eight points for CFCA (6-1). Mariah Bell and Madeline Brocious scored five points each. Laney Trainer and Rachel Thornton had four points apiece. Anna Avery added three points.
The game ended with just over five minutes remaining when the New Life coach opted not to continue after the third player fouled out from the Monarchs’ seven-member roster.
The CFCA girls will be home to take on United Faith on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
