Ennis wins bronze in shot put in NCISAA Division III

Perri Caroline Ennis, a junior at Cape Fear Christian Academy, took third place among 24 competitors in the shot put Saturday in the North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association Division III track and field meet at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory.

Ennis had a best effort in the state meet of 27 feet, 2.5 inches.

Jamiyah Johnson of Trinity Christian in Fayetteville won the event at 28-9.5.

CFCA reinstated track as a sport this spring. Ennis had a season best of 27-6 in the Seahawk Invitational at UNC Wilmington on April 29.

Division III includes NCISAA Class 1-A and 2-A schools. The Eagles are a 1-A school.
