Erwin starts baseball, softball

The Erwin Parks and Recreation Department had opening night for its baseball and softball seasons on Monday.

The Erwin fields have undergone significant renovation.

In 12-and-under baseball games on Field One, Erwin No. 1 beat the Angier Bombs, 7-0, and Erwin No. 2 topped the Angier Braves, 4-1.

In 10-and-under softball at Carlie C’s IGA Field, Erwin No. 2, sponsored by Antioch Church, was an 8-4 winner over Erwin No. 1.

In 12-and-under softball, the Erwin team sponsored by Brent Adams and Associates, rallied for a 15-14 win over Lillington as the third inning was completed after the time limit expired.
