Falcons fall in softball

Harnett Central Middle School handed Coats-Erwin its first loss of the season in softball Monday, taking a 7-3 win over the visiting Falcons.

Ashley Ellis pitched the complete game win for the Raiders (9-2), yielding two earned runs on five hits and two walks, with three strikeouts.

Ivanna Jones had two hits, including a triple, and three runs scored to lead Central offensively.

Ellis had one hit and one run scored. Mikaela Goss had a double. Riley Adams, Kailey Gurba and Lorialys Roche scored one run apiece.

Tristan Ennis had two hits, including a double, and two runs scored to lead the Falcons (10-1).

Ava Blackman had one hit and one run scored. Gracie Byrd and Kimah Warren had one hit apiece.

Central scored one run in the first inning, four in the second and two in the sixth. Coats-Erwin scored one run apiece in the first, fourth and fifth innings.
