Visiting Fayetteville Christian overcame a stellar starting pitching performance by Cape Fear Christian Academy’s Taylor Smith for a 13-8 nonconference baseball win on Tuesday.
Smith went four and two-thirds innings and allowed just three runs (two earned) while striking out 10.
The Eagles had an 8-1 lead through four innings, but the Warriors rallied with nine runs in the sixth.
Cole Godwin had two hits, two runs and two RBIs for CFCA. Fisher Stancil had two hits and scored a run.
Zeke Brock, Smith and Eli Burns had hits for the Eagles, who host Kerr-Vance (1-1) on Friday at 4 p.m.
