Clayton takes titles

Clayton hosted and won the varsity boys and girls championship games in the Greater Neuse 3-A Conference basketball tournaments on Friday night (Feb. 16).

The Comet boys improved to 18-6 as they downed Cleveland 64-40 in the final.

The Clayton girls (17-5) turned back top-seeded East Wake, 58-34.

The championship pairings in the Greater Neuse 3-A Conference basketball tournaments were set with the completion of the girls semifinals at East Wake on Thursday night.

East Wake defeated fourth-seeded Smithfield-Selma, 47-36, and second-seeded Clayton turned back third-seeded West Johnston, 47-21.
