Hobbton is scheduled to open the 2020 football season at East Chapel Hill on Friday, August 21. Hobbton outscored East Chapel Hill, 30-12, in the second half last season for a 51-46 win and went on to finish 8-5, reaching the second round of the 1-A state playoffs. Coach Joe Salas’ program must replace Greyson Rogers, a dual threat who passed for 2,034 yards and 16 touchdowns while rushing for 1,550 yards and 27 scores in 2019. Also gone will be Dacorris Morrison, who ran for 1,525 yards and 13 TDs. … Brandon Huffman, a 6-10 forward from Goldsboro who played at Word of God in Raleigh, has announced he is transferring from North Carolina after averaging 1.3 points in 14 games last season as a junior. … Pro day was canceled at Alabama and other schools but former Tide quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was taped during a 75-throw session on Thursday in Nashville. The workout will be shared with all 32 NFL teams as the draft (April 23-25) approaches.
