Fuquay-Varina splits doubleheader with Statesville

The Fuquay-Varina Twins of the Carolina-Virginia Summer College League split a doubleheader with the Statesville Owls on Saturday at North Raleigh Christian Academy.

The Twins fell behind 7-0 in the first game before coming back to win, 19-7.

The visiting Owls won the second game, 11-3.

Fuquay-Varina is scheduled to visit Wilson EX 9 at Fleming Stadium on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The Twins roster includes Hunter Barnes (Harnett Central, Methodist), Aaron Hedgepeth (Triton, Mount Olive), Joseph Johnson (South Johnston, High Point), Justin Perkins (Harnett Central, Wake Tech) and Paul Gervase (Harnett Central, Wake Tech.

Campbell players with Fuquay-Varina include Collin Wolf, Zach Williams, Landry Moore, Kolby Collins and Kevin Dial.

Veteran coach Billy Hauser guided the Twins to the league title in 2019.
