Cape Fear Christian Academy senior Glenna McLamb was presented the WRAL-TV-5 Extra Effort Award on Tuesday at the school softball field.
A multi-sport performer for the Eagles, McLamb has signed to play softball at Gardner-Webb.
Her pitching has helped the Eagles to a 9-0 record and No. 1 ranking among NCISAA 1-A teams. McLamb has a 0.64 earned run average with 92 strikeouts in 44 innings.
She is hitting .379 with four doubles, two triples, two home runs and 13 RBIs.
She was the leading scorer for the CFCA girls with a 13.2 average.
She took up tennis as a senior and became proficient in a few weeks for a state championship team.
McLamb embodies the Extra Effort Award because she has enhanced her considerable athletic ability through hard work and dedication.
She is the daughter of Tommy and Michelle McLamb of Godwin. Her dad, a former Midway baseball player, is the softball coach at CFCA.
Glenna’s twin brother, Camden, competes in track and field for Midway.
